For a definition of Matriarchy as
a social system developed by a notable German female researcher and
scholar please click here.
Outside of academic definitions of Matriarchy, different
types of Matriarchal communities and networks can emerge to reflect
the reality that people and institutions shape their social environments
in ways that are not static or linear, taking into consideration the
convergence of a number of social, political and economic influences.
The existence of variations in popular
conceptions of Matriarchy and groups who are visioning the creation
of future Matriarchal communities from different ethnic, socio-economic
and religious backgrounds, can be termed a Modern Multi-Cultural Matriarchy
which takes into account the dynamic nature in which women primarily,
actively and intentionally can conceive optimal social environments
and community level institutions by reshaping the current social realities,
processes and relationships to whatever extent possible and this reflects
an unprecedented expansion in the agency of women and also represents
an important aspect of their psycho-social development for the advancement
of Multi-Cultural Matriarchal cultures.
Therefore, it is important to emphasize the fact that Matriarchy is
a culturally diverse phenomenon whose renewal in the twenty first
century will inevitably lead to positive societal outcomes for women,
children and men.
